Step 1. Once you’ve received your R4i-sdhc 3ds rts card, and have your micro sd card in hand, head over to the official website for the r4i-sdhc 3ds or our firmware download section to download the latest kernel. Currently, the latest r4i-sdhc kernel is version 1.78b, and you can download it from here directly.

Step 2. Insert your MicroSD card into the MicroSD card reader or adaptor, and connect it with your computer. And format your MicroSD card, but take note to backup your important files on it.

Step 3. Once you have it downloaded, unzip the r4i-sdhc v1.78b kernel files with a compression software (there are numerous websites from which you can download it).

Step 4. Double click the R4i-3DS V1.78b English folder to open it, and you will see the files as below

Step 5. Copy and paste all of the folders and files onto the root of your MicroSD card. Also put your nds game rom onto it.

Step 6. After done, safely eject the MicroSD card from PC, and plug the micro SD card into the card slot of the r4i-sdhc 3ds rts card

Step 7. Plug the R4i-sdhc 3ds card into the Nintendo 3DS

Step 8. Turn on the Nintendo 3DS and you will see an r4i-sdhc 3ds icon
